EVENTS TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE OAKLEIGH CARNEGIE RSL SUB BRANCH

ON THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LANDING AT GALLIPOLI IN WORLD WAR 1

SUNDAY 19th APRIL 2015 – March and Local Commemoration Service

10.15 am Assembly in Drummond Street, near corner of Logie Street for March to be led by

Oakleigh City Band.

10.30 am The Cenotaph, Cnr Drummond Street and Atherton Road Oakleigh

Local Commemoration Service to be conducted by President of Oakleigh Carnegie RSL Sub Branch including wreath laying.

Following commemoration service at approximately 11 am there will be a special service to honour the 373 Oakleigh soldiers who served in World War 1, and whose names are listed on the ‘Great War 1914 – 1918 Roll of Honour’ located in the Oakleigh Carnegie RSL foyer. This service will see the completion of a project being conducted in partnership between Oakleigh Carnegie RSL, the Prahran Community Learning Centre and Oakleigh Grammar to make 400 ‘poppies’ which the children and young adults from these organisations and other schools in the Oakleigh area will ‘plant’ in the ground around the cenotaph.

11.30 am Refreshments to be served at the RSL rooms, 95 – 97 Drummond Street Oakleigh.

ANZAC DAY – SATURDAY 25TH APRIL 2015 –

6.15 am Dawn Service to be conducted at The Cenotaph, Cnr Drummond Street and Atherton Road Oakleigh.

7.00 am Breakfast to be served in the hall at the Oakleigh Carnegie RSL Sub Branch, 95 – 97 Drummond Street Oakleigh. To conclude at approximately 8.00 am. Gold coin donation required.

9.00 am Local residents are welcome to stay at the RSL to watch the main ANZAC Parade to be conducted at The Shrine, Melbourne.

12 noon Two-Up to commence at the RSL, 95 – 97 Drummond Street Oakleigh.

12.30 pm Sausage Sizzle available in the Beer Garden at the RSL.

12.30 pm Activities for children available – including face painting.

2.00 pm Oakleigh Carnegie RSL Sub Branch ANZAC Cup – football match to be conducted on

Warrawee Oval featuring Oakleigh Amateur Football Club Under 19’s.

Service to be conducted by President of Oakleigh Carnegie RSL Sub Branch on the oval prior to the game.

At the conclusion of the game, the Cup will be presented to the winning team and a Best on Ground medal presented.

SUNDAY 26TH APRIL 2015 –

2.00 to 4.00 pm Spoken Word celebration of ANZAC – poems, stories and readings at the Oakleigh Carnegie RSL Sub Branch, 95 – 97 Drummond Street Oakleigh, main hall.

A partnership event between Oakleigh Carnegie RSL Sub Branch and the Annexe Arts Association. Community welcome.

We Support

The RSL has a wonderful, old, vaudeville-style hall. The hall has been used by musicians since it opened in 1922. Today’s musicians enjoy playing the room for the atmosphere and acoustics that this timeless venue provides. All visitors are welcome to enjoy pre-show drinks in the members bar or dinner in the Onion Patch Bistro, a delightfully tasty food platter is also available from Onion Patch Bistro.
